CODES OF CONDUCT & CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

GENERAL CODE OF CONDUCT

For the enjoyment and safety of all visitors, players and the community, Auburn Basketball Centre applies a universal sporting Code of Conduct.

Agreement to abide by the Code of Conduct is a condition of entry.

The Code requires that you:

• Abide by the rules of the sport;
• Follow all reasonable directions given by officials;
• Demonstrate the principles of mutual respect and normal courtesy

Designated officials of Parramatta Basketball Association are authorised to require any person to leave the premises who is responsible for:

• Verbal of physical abuse of other participants or fans;
• Harassment of individuals or groups;
• Constant or aggressive questioning of decisions;
• Ridicule, baiting or uttering audible obscenities;
• Engaging in behaviour which fails the mutual respect test.

Further action is not precluded where verbal or physical abuse of other participants occurs, or where a person is asked to leave the premises.

Parramatta Basketball Association accepts that disagreements or disputes may occur. You should address these in a polite, calm manner. If you do not receive satisfaction, you should contact a centre official.

COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT:

Coaches will:

(a) Respect the talent of all athletes and seek to develop their potential;

(b) Learn as much as you can about your sport, sound coaching principles and the disciplines which contribute to athletic excellence.
Make a commitment to keep yourself informed;

(c) Treat each athlete as a unique individual. Make sure their period of time with you is a positive experience and self-enhancing for the athlete.
Never mislead or deceive an athlete;

(d) Wherever possible, group athletes to give a reasonable chance of success. However, the association may accept teams on a development basis;

(e) Be fair and considerate to all athletes;

(f) Be dignified, controlled and avoid the use of derogatory language and teach athletes to do likewise. Develop respect for the ability of opponents as well as for the judgement of officials and opposing coaches;

(g) Teach your athletes that rules of sport are mutual agreements which no one should evade or break;

(h) Actively discourage the use of ergogenic or behavior modifying drugs;

(i) Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the athletes;

(j) Follow the advice of a doctor or physiotherapist when determining when an injured athlete is ready to recommence training or competition.

When coaching young athletes:

(k) Keep yourself informed about the principles of growth and development and apply them as they relate to the athletes;

(l) Be reasonable in your demands on young athletes” time, energy and enthusiasm;

(m) The scheduling and length of practice times and competition should take into consideration the maturity level of the athlete;

(n) Remember that the athletes play for enjoyment and that winning is only part of their motivation. Never ridicule or yell at players for making a mistake or losing games or competition.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS / SPECTATORS:

It is expected that parents/spectators entering the premises where the competition is played enter with the understanding that the sport has to be the ultimate winner and their behaviour can effect what happens on the court. It is expected that parents/spectators:

(a) Remember that players play organised the sport for enjoyment. They are not playing for the entertainment of parents and spectators only.

(b) Applaud the good performance and the efforts of each team.
Congratulate all participants upon their performance regardless of the game”s outcome;

(c) Show your appreciation of coaches and officials;

(d) Respect the official’s decisions. If there is disagreement, follow the appropriate procedure in order to question the decision and encourage the players to do likewise;

(e) Never ridicule a player for making a mistake during the game.

Positive comments are motivational;

(f) Condemn the use of violence in any form, be it by spectators, coaches, officials or players;

(g) Show respect for your team’s opponents, without them there would be no game;

(h) Encourage all players to follow the rules and the official’s decisions;

(i) Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language, body gestures, harassing players or coaches;

(j) Remember actions speak louder than words. Make sure your behaviour sets a good example for fair play.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PLAYERS:

(a) Play for the enjoyment of the game;

(b) Compete by the rules and always abide by the referees decisions;

(c) Control your temper. Make no criticism either by word or gesture;

(d) Work equally hard for yourself and your team – your team’s performance will benefit and so will your own;

(e) Be willing to train and prepare for the game. Preparation helps prevent injury and increases the level of enjoyment;

SAFETY AND SECURITY:

(a) Follow Instructions: Comply with all stadium rules, regulations, and instructions from stadium staff and security personnel.

(a) Emergency Procedures: Be aware of and follow emergency procedures in case of fire, medical emergencies, or other unforeseen events.

(c)Prohibited Items: Do not bring prohibited items into the stadium, including but not limited to:

• • Weapons of any kind
  • Fireworks, flares, or other incendiary devices
  • Glass containers
  • Outside food and beverages (except as permitted)
  • Illegal substances

GAME CONDUCT:

(a) No Interruptions: Refrain from interfering with the game or the athletes’ performance.

(b) No Throwing Objects: Do not throw any objects onto the field or court.

MEDIA AND RECORDING:

(a) Photography and Video: Photography and video recording may be permitted for personal use only.

• • Commercial Use Prohibited: Commercial use of any recordings, including but not limited to broadcasting, streaming, or selling, is strictly prohibited without prior written permission from the stadium management and any relevant rights holders.

ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION:

(a) Responsible Consumption: If alcohol is served at the stadium, consume it responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

(b) No Intoxication: Intoxicated spectators will be denied entry or ejected from the stadium.

EJECTION & REFUSAL OF ENTRY:

• Spectators who violate this Code of Conduct may be subject to ejection from the stadium without refund.
• Spectators who have displayed previous breaches may be refused entry at any point in the future.
